What Are Advent Calendars?
They are of German origin and their tradition started in the early nineteenth century. German Protestants began to mark the days of Advent by burning a candle or marking walls every day.
In the late 1950s, chocolate-filled calendars began to appear and spread around the world. Nowadays, we see hundreds of different advent calendar types, from skincare to gourmet food, toys, socks, and of course tea.
The Best Tea Advent Calendars of 2023
I’ve carefully handpicked each Advent Calendar on this list for its ability to make your holiday season brighter. I considered everything, from the range of flavors to the overall experience they offer, their packaging and visuals, and the company’s trustworthiness and quality.
Check out my favorites for this 2023 holiday season.
1. Adagio Teas
They have a wide variety of great blends, straight teas, and also single estate premium teas through their sister site Masters Teas (which I l-o-v-e). They’ve done an amazing job in building a tea community, they have great content in their blog and annex sites like teamuse and teachef. One of my favorite features of Adagio is that you can create your own blends!
This calendar offers 2 choices, loose leaf teas or tea bags (they have different teas in each!). The loose-leaf calendar contains festive blends and some classic Adagio blends of black, white, green, and herbal teas. Each sachet includes enough for a single cup.
The teabag calendar has classic Adagio blends and several ‘straight’ unblended teas including black, white, green, oolong, and herbal tea.
You can click the ‘Spoiler Alert’ option and view which teas are included in each type.

2. Sips By
Sips By is a tea subscription service that offers customized boxes based on personal preferences and also has an online tea shop. The great thing about their service is that it allows a finer customization level than most companies offer.
This calendar is on the pricey side, but it is reusable! It is made out of fabric and they offer it yearly, so all you’ll need to do next year is order the refills (eco-friendly option). You can also choose from black and white fabric, and it folds into a tea travel clutch.
Each day includes a pack that is good to make about 3-4 cups and a printed insert with steeping tips and exclusive discounts to each tea brand that’s included.

+ BONUS – For the DIYers!
If you’re crafty and love to make your own gifts, here is an option to make your own 2022 Tea Advent Calendar. Get a generic Wall hanging countdown to Christmas Calendar that will fit tea bags (or small loose-leaf pouches), then buy a tea sampler like the one from Vahdam, Taylors of Harrogate, Harney & Sons, etc., and fill it. Ta-dah!!
Despite these advent tea calendars being dedicated to Christmas countdown, I also recommend them as an amazing alternative to try different teas from different companies and explore. Let me know which one you got!!! (I’ll tell you if you tell me ☺️) Happy sipping!
